Preventing serious and fatal accidents is the main objective of the traffic police in North Rhine-Westphalia. To achieve this, the causes are continuously analyzed and actively combated.
One of the main causes of accidents to date is excessive speeding; speed enforcement is an important component in combating this phenomenon. In order to increase the pressure on speeders, the measuring points are no longer announced in advance. Instead, measuring points will be made more unpredictable by regularly changing their time and location. In addition, citizens will be stopped more often in the event of violations in order to discuss the risky behavior in person and thus achieve a better prevention effect.
This strategy has recently been dubbed #LEBEN throughout the country. The term sums up the efforts of the police to reduce serious traffic accidents.
