They use a short story to teach first-graders about the consequences of being dressed too darkly.
"Butterfly Florian wonders why he is always overlooked in the dark, while Florinchen arrives home without a collision," says Ruth Jansen. When she asks why Florian the butterfly has so much bad luck on his flight home, the children in class 1B quickly come up with the answer. "The others didn't see him. He's dressed too darkly. Unlike Florinchen, who is clearly visible to everyone," is the unanimous verdict. And everyone is right.
Every year, children in the Coesfeld district are involved in accidents. The causes vary. The Safety through Visibility project aims to help children move more safely in traffic.
